Door Panels
Door panels, also known as door fillings, are the components that make up the door leaf and have a direct impact on the door’s appearance, insulation properties and functionality. They form a barrier between the interior and the outside environment, and their type and material determine both the performance characteristics and the aesthetic qualities of the door as a whole.
Types of door panels
Insert panels – fitted inside the sash, meaning that the sash frames are visible from both the outside and the inside. This solution is highly popular thanks to its excellent value for money and the ease with which it can be fitted into existing structures.
Overlay panels – fitted ‘on top of’ the door leaf – effectively cover it, making them popular with customers looking for ‘designer’ solutions. Due to their construction, they must be made of aluminium, which gives them excellent thermal insulation properties.
Materials used in the manufacture of panels
PVC – a plastic material that is moisture-resistant and easy to keep clean. It also offers good insulating and soundproofing properties.
Aluminium – a modern, durable material that is weather-resistant. It offers good thermal performance and energy efficiency.
Glass – used primarily to give the doors a sense of lightness and to increase the amount of light entering the building.
- Stainless steel (inox) – used as a decorative element in the form of frames or strips, giving the doors a modern look.
Key features of door panels
Thermal and acoustic insulation – choosing the right material and panel design enhances protection against heat loss and noise.
Resistance to external factors – the panels should be resistant to damage, moisture and UV radiation.
Aesthetics – these are an important decorative feature, allowing the doors to be matched to both the interior and the building’s façade.
Door panels are therefore a central component of a door – serving not only a functional purpose but also a decorative one, they have a significant impact on the final appearance not only of the door itself but also of the entire façade.
